Passenger privacy notice

Last updated: October 9, 2026. Applies to users in Mexico.

This is a translation for your convenience. The Spanish version is the one that governs; if the two differ, the Spanish version prevails.

The controller of your data is Luis Abarca G., an individual who operates the taxi network and its app, with an address at Pensadores, C.P. 39090, Chilpancingo, Guerrero, México. To exercise your rights or ask questions, write to info@zanca.mx.

This notice covers what the passenger app uses. The platform's full privacy policy (in Spanish) applies to everything not detailed here, including the website's cookies.

1. Data we use

  • Your account: name, email and phone number. You sign in with a six-digit code sent to your email or phone; there is no password.
  • Your rides: pickup and destination points, date, fare, payment method, rating and your messages with the driver during the ride.
  • Card payments: processed by a payment provider; we do not store the full number.
  • Location: only in the cases described in section 2.
  • Trusted contacts: name, phone number and, if you provide them, email and relationship of the people you choose to notify.
  • Medical record: optional. It is sensitive data: only whoever handles one of your alerts can see it, every access is logged and you can delete it whenever you want.
  • Notifications and diagnostics: the identifier the system assigns to your phone so we can notify you, and a technical report when the app fails.

2. Your location

The app asks for permission before using it and you can withdraw it from your phone's settings; all you lose is the feature that needs it. We do not sell your location or use it for advertising.

  • With the app open, it is used to suggest the pickup point and show you the ride on the map. Pickup and destination addresses are stored with each ride.
  • In the background, only if you turn it on: with trusted places the app notifies your contacts when you arrive at or leave a place you chose; we record the notification, not where you go. With Walk with me, your location is sent while the session lasts and is deleted when it ends, unless an alert was triggered during it.
  • Emergency button: sends your location to your trusted contacts and, where the municipality handles emergencies through this service, to its response center. While the alert is active, and only then, it may record ambient audio.
  • Alerts for your area: when you register your phone for notifications we store its last known location, so we can send you alerts for where you are. It is refreshed when you open the app and deleted if 30 days pass without a refresh.

3. What we use it for

  • Connecting you with a driver, showing each of you the other's location during the ride, and calculating fare and arrival time.
  • Issuing the receipt and handling billing questions, lost items and reports.
  • Handling emergency alerts and notifying your trusted contacts when you ask us to.
  • Sending you service notifications: driver assigned, arrival, receipt.
  • Complying with legal obligations and resolving disputes.

4. Who sees it

We do not sell your data. It is shared only with:

  • The driver of your ride: your name and your pickup and destination points. You see their name, photo, vehicle, plate and location.
  • The network's dispatch center, to coordinate the service and handle incidents.
  • Your trusted contacts, when you trigger an alert, a trusted place or Walk with me.
  • Providers that help us operate, under confidentiality agreements: hosting, maps and routing, SMS and WhatsApp messages, email, notifications, payments and error reporting. The list is in the full policy.
  • Authorities when the law requires it or to protect rights and safety.

5. How long it is kept

  • Pickup and destination addresses are kept with the ride record: they are the basis for the receipt and for any claim.
  • The detailed route —the GPS points with their time— is deleted after 90 days; distance and duration are kept. If there was an alert or a report, the route is kept with that case file.
  • The location of an alert is kept with the alert's case file.
  • The retention periods for Walk with me, trusted places and alerts for your area are those in section 2.

Information travels encrypted, access is logged and you can see and close your sessions from your profile.

6. Your rights

You can find out what data we have about you, correct it, ask us to delete it or object to certain uses (ARCO rights), and withdraw any consent you gave us; for location, withdrawing the permission on your phone is enough. Write to info@zanca.mx with details that let us identify you and we will respond within the time limits set by law. If you believe we did not address your request, you may go to the personal data protection authority.

You can delete your account from the app or at Delete account (in Spanish): it explains what is deleted and what is kept.

7. Minors

The app is not intended for people under 18. If you know a minor gave us their data, write to us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to this notice

If what the app asks for or stores changes, we update the date above and let you know in the app. The terms for requesting a ride are in the passenger terms.
